Director of George W. Bush Presidential Library to Speak at Highland Park Cafeteria
If you’re as excited about the opening of George W. Bush Presidential Library as I am, you can’t miss this Sunday event. On January 13 at 5 p.m., director Alan C. Lowe will be giving a visual presentation at Highland Park Cafeteria of his mission and plans for the new library on SMU’s campus. A limited number of Presidential Library memorabilia will be given away to attendees, but really, the best part is the promise of a free chicken pot pie to each guest. Did I mention that this event is free and open to the public? Consider this a real dinner and show. For more information, read the press release below:
“Lowe will provide timely information on the mission and plans for the George W. Bush Library, report on how the public can be involved, and give a preview of the opening events as well as the many resources and programs the library will provide.
The Library will contain more than 60 million paper records on an array of policy topics, 42,000 artifacts including gifts from heads-of-state, more than 4 million photographs and audio-visual materials, the largest electronic records collection held by any presidential library as well as recordings and transcripts of interviews with senior Bush Administration officials
George W. Bush’s namesake center will not only focus on the past, but be actively involved in shaping the future with a think-tank of top experts, scholars, business leaders and practitioners assembled to improve America’s public schools, foster democracy and support freedom advocates, save lives through global health programs, and promote free markets and economic growth with programs already in progress.
The Bush Library will be housed in the beautiful new facility at Southern Methodist University with a scheduled dedication date in April 2013.
The Highland Park Cafeteria is 10 minutes east of Central Expressway near the Dallas Arboretum at 1200 North Buckner Boulevard in the Casa Linda Plaza. Hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 8p.m. daily. For more information go to www.highlandparkcafeteria.com or call 214-324-5000.”
