Choose to Read

In 2013, something unexpected is going to happen in Dallas. We are going to engage the city to read a book together.  It’s called The Big Read Dallas, and thanks to the Friends of the Dallas Public Library, D Magazine, D Academy, and a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, we will spend a month talking about Ray Bradbury’s provocative Fahrenheit 451. Get ready for an excellent adventure.

Laura Bush

We’re thrilled to announce that First Lady (and former librarian) Laura Bush is honorary chair of The Big Read Dallas.

“The Big Read Dallas combines three of my passions: literacy, libraries, and Dallas,” she says. “My hope is that everyone in Dallas will pick up a good book and read, and I’m thrilled that The Big Read Dallas will begin with Ray Bradbury’s classic Fahrenheit 451.”
